PE 8-10 FEMALE SOFTBALL ACADEMY - Course Description
This academy is designed for softball athletes in grades 8-10. Students interested in this course must select this course on their course selection form, fill out an application form either online or in hard copy and then be selected for the class. This course fulfills the requirements for their grade specific physical and health education credit. The class will be a high intensity training environment that will improve students’ softball skills, increase their confidence and help those students that are interested in earning a softball university scholarship to do so. Where possible, the course will run in the first semester in order to help prepare the girls for their upcoming softball season in the spring and so as to not conflict with their community softball practices.
The course will use Lord Tweedsmuir’s gym, weight room and fields, the Cloverdale Athletic Park fields, the Cloverdale Rec Center and the Cloverdale Coverall. When possible, guest coaches will be invited in all specialty areas to work with the athletes. Students should be prepared for class hours to start early (7:45am) or be extended on occasions depending on facility availability. Students may also be offered other softball experiences that are outside the timetable (i.e. tournaments or exhibition game play).
Students wishing to take this course must fill out an application and will be selected based on pre-determined department criteria.
The cost of taking Softball Academy will be $300.
